About Alexis Jones

ALEXIS JONES is a policy advisor, US Navy veteran, advocate, guest opinion writer, and alumna of Spelman College with nearly a decade of diverse experience across the public and private sectors. Her mission is rooted in solving critical issues that hinder the general welfare and exponential growth of humanity, particularly those significantly impacting the black community, incarcerated individuals, veterans, and minors.

Alexis’ career began as an Undesignated Seaman and later Aviation Ordnanceman in the US Navy, where participation gaps in meaningful resources like the DoD Skillbridge Program and Transition Assistance Program (TAP) prompted her to act as a volunteer career transition coach for transitioning service members and recent veterans.

She spent two years on this effort before setting her sights on more formal opportunities to enact change within challenged systems.

Since then, she has contributed to policy initiatives in emerging areas such as cybersecurity and environmental justice, overseen coordination efforts between federal agencies, written pieces that prompt public discourse on progressive issues, lifted individuals who need an extra voice, and generated action.

Alexis continually “stands on business” about creating opportunities and advocating for issues at the intersections of social justice and public policy.
